Press This « WordPress Codex

18 03 2010

I’m used to using a bookmarklet in my toolbar to post interesting articles to Facebook.  I’ve been looking for a way to do something similar for WordPress (which powers this blog), but it looks like I’ve been barking up this tree.  The answer was right under my nose the whole time.

This functionality is built right into WordPress!  You can find the bookmarklet under the Tools menu of the admin page. Just drag this link to your browser’s toolbar and the next time you see an interesting article, click on the “Press This” link on your toolbar and content automagically shows up as a new WordPress post!

This sure beats having to write code to do this.  :-)

TckTckTck – Time for Climate Justice

28 11 2009

Despite mounting evidence that climate change is real, there are still people that disregard science and call it a hoax. There is NO credible evidence that climate change is not real. The issue is whether scientists can explain it with bulletproof precision. No, absolutely not. This isn’t how science works.

I blame science illiteracy and poor fact checking by the mass media for why the the general public is more confused and doubtful than ever. For instance, what’s the deal with quoting “experts” that are bankrolled by the fossil fuel industry?

Regardless, we all need to work to lessen the human foot print on earth. Climate change is only one way how our abuse of our planet is being manifested. Anyone that closes their eyes to the devastation to our environment is delusional!

How to load bicycle on TTC buses

16 11 2009

BikeRacks3-small

There are 145 TTC routes now equipped with the bike racks on the front of the buses.

I have to admit that I’ve never done it partly due to the intimidation factor of trying to load a bike when I’ve never done it before…with a full bus of passengers waiting.

It looks pretty simple. I’ll give it a try one day and report back.

In case you were wondering how this is done, here’s the site with more information on the service as well as videos instructions.

Steve Job’s 2005 Stanford Commencement Address

7 10 2009

I was just talking to a young friend about making choices in life and thought of this video from a few years back.

“You’re time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s’ life and don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. Most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.”
